HuskySat-3 (HS-3) Division

Division Overview

Currently, HS-3 aims to explore subsurface regions of Mare Imbrium and Oceanus Procellarum in search of underground tunnels known as Lava Tube Caves. These Lava Tube Caves are essentially voids underneath the lunar surface that offer extremely promising conditions for long-term human habitation.

HS-3 hopes to map these underground caves, providing an accurate underground characterization and knowledge of these incredible structures, with the vision that they'll eventually be used as settlement zones for human beings.

As of Fall of 2026, HS-3 has composed the first version of its mission including system and subsystem requirements and architecture, high-level mission operations and risk matrix, full orbital trajectory and conditions, and more. With this concept on the table, HS-3 is now in its first pass for a full system design!

Having this unprecedented challenge ahead of us, HS-3 has assembled an elite team of engineers, each of whom owns a large stake in the success of the mission. This team is working together to design, build, and test HS-3, all the way from component-level to full-satellite assembly.
